About Jan Jansen
Jan Jansen MPH, works in the field of Public Health and Health Care for about 25 years now.
He has a university degree in Nutrition and Health Sciences (Wageningen University) and is Master in Public Health (Netherlands School for Public Health). After a few years of research at TNO-Nutrition he started in 1991 at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) where he worked on a international project on the prevention of Cardiovascular Disease. Furthermore, he contributed to the Public Health Status and Forecasts in 1993, 1997 and 2002. In October 2002 he started working at the Netherlands Institute for Health Promotion (NIGZ). His main topics where socio-economic differences in health, overweight, community development and risk behavior in youth. Between 2004 and 2010 he was manager of the department Youth (later Consultation & Innovation). At CBO (later CBOImpact), he was involved in several international projects in the field of Health Promotion and equity in health. Within the Netherlands, his main topics are School and workrelated Health Promotion and is involved in innovative approaches in creating ‘Sustainable Health Care’.
Goal is to create more cooperative efforts in building a strong Health Promotion institute in the Netherlands with strong focus on Local Health Development.
He is member of the board of the Association for Public Health and Science in the Netherlands.
